Our first craft market stall - Sunday 23rd of May 2021 Whalley Craft Fair

Well we managed to get our wax melts and jars ready in time for our first craft market, and took advantage of a last minute cancellation!

The plot was inside of a local community centre in Whalley, Lancashire, so we managed to escape braving the wind with our gazebo thankfully.

We turned up at 9:00 and set up our stall and after chatting with the other stall holders we got to work.

At first we were concerned by the lack of people, but they soon started showing up and wandering around our stall. We were a little nervous having not done anything since the lockdown began, but we got our first sale within about ten minutes and we were so excited to finally selling after months of really hard work.

Our mini melt jars proved to be a great success and we managed to sell around half of them, getting some really lovely comments about our fresh smelling fragrances.

Also popular were our clamshell wax melts, which feature a luxurious brushed gold label and a 100% natural soy wax. 

The only products we were a little disappointing with were the individual wax melt pieces which actually took us the longest time to create. We were sure they would be popular but we didn't sell a single one! :-( A reality check after a great start! (we have since sourced some luxury packaging and are looking at ways to promote them more and make them more affordable) They actually offer 20% more wax than the bars for the same price. So hopefully once people realise they will start to do well.

Overall we had an amazing first day meeting the other businesses and eventually outselling our wildest expectations. It really gave us the confidence we needed to invest in even more products and ideas, and to find more places to set up our stall.

We are learning as we go and have had a lot of hurdles to jump through, seeking advice and support from trading standards and other wax melt sellers.

We are hoping to perfect a range of candles soon, and are half way through testing them for safety and burn performance, a very long process but essential to provide our customers with something really special hopefully.
